Phil's Homepage
Welcome to my home page. You won't find much here and you will not see it updated often. Please feel free to browse around. Like many other's on the web, I have a web log that I update somewhat regularly.
I am one of the original WebGuys and helped in the initial construction of the Gibson USA web site back in 1994. Since then I have worked or consulted for Fruit of the Loom, Deloitte, Weekly Reader Corporation, United Steel Workers, Middle Tennessee Anime Convention, Angiology Corporation of America, United Methodist Publishing House, and several smaller corporations in the middle Tennessee area. I hold a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Computer Science and minor degree in Computer Information Systems. I am a long standing member of the ACM and am a Microsoft Certified Professional (MCAD, MCSD, MCDBA). I have released several open source applications and am currently working toward a graduate degree in Computer Science.
One of my favorite hobbies, other than Software Engineering, is martial arts. I've studied the Japanese art of Wado-Ryu for many years now under Sensei Steel, Sensei Kirby, and Sensei Taylor. More recently I have started studying American Kenpo Karate under the tutelage of Sensei Lamkin. My interest in the martial arts led me to an in depth interest in Japanese culture. I have become a Anime-otaku and have studied the Japanese language extensively. I also chaired the Middle Tennessee Anime Convention for two years and am still on staff as a Director after seven years.
I own a Supercharged 1993 Ford Mustang GT, a 2003 Ford SVT Focus Z3, and a 2003 Kawasaki Ninja. I have been formally trained in Solo II/AutoCross racing by National Champion Jinx Jordan and enjoy participating in such events whenever possible, though I find the class track time the most beneficial and fun.
